Idabel Public Schools is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Football Coach/Athletic Director for the 2018 season. In addition to coaching the varsity football team, responsibilities include the organization and management of the school’s football program including overseeing the middle school and assisting with youth football programs. Strong leadership skills, positive, education-based approach, and deep understanding of the game are a must. Candidates must have a strong understanding of fitness and training regiments appropriate for high school athletes. Candidates should be dynamic, energetic, and motivated and possess a willingness to commit the required time. Qualified applicants should be from a successful high school or college program. Candidates should be prepared to teach classes at the high school during the day.
Qualifications: *Must be a member of the Oklahoma Coaches Association and Oklahoma Football Coaches Association. *Must hold a current Oklahoma Teaching Credential or willing to obtain certification. *Ability to teach fundamental skills and team concepts of football. *Dynamic personality who will get the entire Idabel Warrior community involved in our programs. *Ability to interact with student athletes of different ages and skill levels in a positive and professional manner. *Ability to interact with peers, staff and administrators in a positive and professional manner. *Candidate should demonstrate a high degree of integrity and character. *Motivate and mentor student-athletes. *Must promote school spirit and work well with spirit squad sponsors. *Communicate with school administration and football families. *Plan, organize and execute off-season, summer and pre-season training and preparation programs.
Athletic Director Responsibilities: (FT 12 month employee and reports directly to the Superintendent.)
*Develop an “Athletic Program” that aligns with District strategic goals and initiatives. *Create processes and systems that develop athletes and coaches to their fullest potential. *Work with Athletics and District constituents to create a single learning organization and culture. *Attain financial stability for the Athletic Dept. through revenue generation and budget oversight. *Provide leadership and oversight of male and female programs in 8 sports 7th thru 12th grades including cheerleading.’ *Represent the District in OSSAA, Region and District meetings. *Ensure that all athletic programs operate in compliance with all OSSAA rules, as well as federal and state laws.
The successful candidate also must have:
*Experience in high school athletics. *Ability to articulate the philosophy and vision for the future of the Idabel Warrior athletic programs and possession of a strategic vision/plan. *Ability to mobilize support behind the institutional goals, as well as proven success developing and implementing athletic strategic initiatives into a plan. *Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, equal opportunity, gender equity, and Title IX regulations. *Demonstrate ability and experience managing and leading people and teams, including oversight of mentoring and support of staff and coaches. *Demonstrate experience or understanding in budget preparation and oversight and successful experience with revenue generation and fundraising abilities. *Demonstrate commitment to academic integrity and the academic progress and graduation of student-athletes. *Excellent in written and oral communication skills as well as a clearly articulated vision and philosophy of the role athletics in the district culture.

Idabel High School is high school located in Idabel, Oklahoma, which is in McCurtain County in the southeastern corner of the state. It is a part of Idabel Public Schools. The football team has made the playoffs 4 years in a row, 2 years to the 2nd round and making it to the Quarter-Finals in 2017. The school track teams have won a total of 22 state
championships, with the boys team winning 17 a...nd the girls team winning 5. Most recently, the boys team won the 1995 state championship. The girls most recent win was in 2006. The boys basketball team took home the state championship in 2005. Idabel students have also earned recognition in golf. Women's Individual 4A state championships in 2001-2004. Men's Individual 4A golf state championship in 2010. Women's Individual 3A golf state championship in 2012. The Team took state runner up honors. Men's Individual 3A golf state championship in 2012.
