ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR LINEBACKERS OR D-LINE POSITION COACH (FULL-TIME, 11 MONTHS) ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT
FUNCTION: Reporting to the Head Football Coach, the Assistant Football Coach will be responsible for assisting in all areas of the football program as well as support and reflect the University and athletics department mission and philosophy.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATED DUTIES:
1.Lead the defensive coaching staff and players with implementation of scheme, techniques and practice plans on the field and in meetings.
2.Coordinate a position group (LB or DL) and be competent with teaching technique and conducting individual practice time on the field.
3.Commit time, energy and thought into mentoring and investing in the lives of the student-athletes in our program.
4.Assist the special teams’ coordinator on the field and in meetings as assigned.
5.Assist Head Coach in conducting the football program in compliance with all NCAA, State, Northwest Conference and Institutional rules and regulations.
6.Assist in Recruiting quality student-athletes in cooperation with football staff and Admissions Office.
7.Assist in all areas of the football program as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Athletics Director.
8.Develop positive relationships with faculty, staff, students and alumni while interacting favorably with department personnel and university community.
9.Additional duties related to your role in the athletic department as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Athletics Director.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree required, with a minimum of three year's demonstrated successful coaching experience at the college or university level desired. Master's degree preferred.
Strong oral and written communications skills and supervisory ability.
Demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships with students, coaches, Whitworth staff and faculty, print and electronic media, and members of the Spokane community.
Commitment to NCAA Division III rules.
Demonstrated awareness and commitment to effectively establishing relationships and positive communications across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to race, gender, physical limitations, class or religious perspectives.
A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning.
