Assist the Head Football Coach and Offensive Coordinator develop a quality NCAA Division I A Football program that will be competitive on the field and in the classroom within NCAA guidelines. Essential duties include organization and oversight of the university’s NCAA Division I Football offensive system by assisting the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator with the following tasks: daily on field coaching at all practice sessions and games, teaching individual skills assigned by head coach, on/off campus recruiting of qualified student athletes, written and personal correspondence with coaches, parents and recruits, scheduling film sessions for assigned position, monitor academic progress of assigned athletes and breaking down opponents tendencies for scouting reports. Provide general counseling to assigned athletes, assist the head coach in fund raising and promotional activities, development of an offensive play book and scouting reports for each game, and other related special projects assigned by the Head Coach. Expected to serve as an authority figure, a role model and a counselor to our student athletes advising them in matters related to their sport and education; serve as an ambassador of the university and a valued member of the community. Make public appearances and speak at civic events within the community in the absence of the head coach or as assigned. Other duties will include but not be limited to: attending Conference USA meetings and national conventions to stay abreast of their sport, changing trends, safety issues and new techniques within their assigned position. Expected to know and follow NCAA rules and regulations and successfully pass the recruiting test each year to recruit for the university. Immediately report any known violations of NCAA rules to the Director of Compliance; all NCAA Compliance documentation will be completed accurately and turned in to the compliance office in a timely fashion and perform related tasks as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Two (2) years progressively responsible High School, College or Professional coaching and/or collegiate or professional competition experience required. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Four (4) years progressively responsible High School, NCAA College or Professional coaching and/or collegiate and/or professional competition experience preferred.
