Position Summary: The Department of Athletics at Jacksonville University is accepting applications for the Compliance Assistant position. This 10-month (August to May) position will provide insight into and practical experience in the field of NCAA Division I compliance. Anticipated start date for this position is August 1, 2017.
The position is designed to give the successful candidate hands-on experience working with NCAA rules and processes in an environment that is conducive to immersion in the day-to-day workings of a Division I compliance office with special attention to NCAA Bylaws 13 (recruiting) and 17 (playing and practice seasons).
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to multitask and prioritize assignments. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required. The successful candidate will also have a working knowledge of NCAA database systems including Compliance Assistant (CA) software and LSDBi. Candidates who possess familiarity with JumpForward software will be given priority.
Jacksonville University sponsors 19 varsity-level teams with primary NCAA conference affiliation in the Atlantic Sun Conference. JU also holds associate memberships in the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference (men’s and women’s rowing), Southern Conference (men’s lacrosse) and Pioneer Football League.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum qualifications for this position are a bachelor’s degree, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and an interest in the field of NCAA compliance.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who have at least one year of experience working in an NCAA compliance office and have a working knowledge of the Compliance Assistant (CA) and LSDBi NCAA systems and JumpForward software.
Job Duties: Assist in compiling and distributing pre-season initial eligibility rosters to coaching staffs and communicating outstanding NCAA Eligibility Center tasks. Monitor countable athletically-related activities (practice logs) in JumpForward compliance software. Monitor recruiting phone calls in JumpForward. Reconcile incoming off-campus recruiting itineraries with legislated recruiting calendars. Complete incoming permission to contact requests. Assist in the coordination of coaches’ speaking engagements, promotional activities, and coaches’ local sports club participation. Coordinate the signing of squad lists and eligibility checklists for submission to the Conference office. Assist in the receipt of National Letters of Intent and notification of signing to coaches, auxiliary staff and media relations including submission to the conference office. Attend monthly NCAA compliance education meetings and present on topics as requested.
Additional Salary Information: Compensation for this position is a stipend of $1,000 per month (August 1, 2017 through May 31, 2018) and includes on-campus housing accommodations and a university meal plan.
