As a key member of the Director of Athletics’ Executive team, the Deputy Athletic Director for External Affairs will assist the Director of Athletics in providing strong vision, leadership, management, coordination and oversight of all activities of the University of Pittsburgh Athletics external operations. This position will have a dotted line reporting relationship with the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, responsibility for all revenue generation activities, including leading fundraising efforts, oversight of all ticket operations including strategies, pricing, group sales & sales timelines, marketing/game day/fan experience, broadcast/video/creative, branding, licensing and merchandising, serve as liaison to multimedia rights-holder. Meet on a regular basis with rights holder to discuss current contract, game day atmosphere, promotions and additional revenue opportunities. This position will also oversee our strategic communications and media relations areas.
The incumbent will play a leadership role in creating and implementing unit strategic plans in conjunction with the Department of Athletics and University comprehensive strategic planning process. Developing effective, collaborative relationships with University leadership, athletic partners, university community and the greater Pittsburgh community is vital to the success of this position.
