Dakota State University is seeking candidates for an Assistant Coach for Football (50%) and Baseball (50%). This is a ten-month, 40 hour per week, benefit eligible position which will work half time for each sport. The purpose of this position is to assist the Head Coaches of Football and Baseball. This Assistant Coach for football will work in all possible areas (Defense, Offense and Special Teams), as well as all areas of coaching and technique (Pitching, Hitting, Catching and Base Running) in the Baseball program. This coach will also assist with efforts for recruiting, fundraising, compliance, student retention and student study efforts to maintain higher student athlete Grade Point Averages (GPA’s), as well as any duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
Requirements: The incumbent for this position must have the ability, technical skills, and proven knowledge to work with collegiate athletes. Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both oral and written) are necessary. Must have ability to read and teach sport plays and possess ability to coach, mentor and develop student athletes. One to three years of previous coaching and recruiting experience is preferred.
Applications must be able to evaluate and assess the student athlete’s athletic skills. They must have the ability to communicate information clearly and concisely; establish effective working relationships with coaching staff, student athletes, and administration; work evening and weekend hours and travel as required by the position.
