Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana seeks a highly motivated graduate assistant to begin in January 2019. The graduate assistant will gain hands-on experience in facility & event operations through a number of tasks. This position will be the primary external event manager. Upon review, this position is eligible to be extended to a second year. Northwestern State competes at the Division I level in the Southland Conference.
•Assist the Director of Athletic Facilities and Event Management and Assistant Director in various aspects of administration, including scheduling the use of facilities, tracking maintenance, and setting up and tearing down events •Serve as the lead event manager for all non-athletic events such as high school football and Flavor of Louisiana. Responsible for planning events, working with internal and external constituents. •Serve as lead event manager for select sports and sporting events like soccer. Responsible for planning event, setting up and tearing down, and contacting visiting team and officials. •Serve as a secondary event manager for larger events, such as football and basketball •Assist with set up and tear down of athletic facilities •Manage small-scale facility projects •Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in sport management, communications, or related field.
Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in college athletics, preferably in facilities and/or event management.
Graduate assistants shall be admitted to a Northwestern State University graduate program. GRE scores are a requirement for admission to that particular program.
Previous athletics experience as a student worker or intern in facilities and/or event management preferred.
