RESPONSIBILITIES: This position reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications. Serve as the primary contact for women's basketball, baseball, and secondary contact for football. Responsible for arranging and coordinating media coverage for assigned varsity sports and prepare news releases, announcements, promotional publications and social media content for immediate public consumption and distribution. Also responsible for statistical compilation and record keeping for assigned varsity sports. This position is the communication nexus between Ohio Athletics and the media outlets and fans; and other duties as assigned. This position requires working evenings and weekends.

Bachelor’s degree required. At least three (3) years of experience in media relations, public relations, journalism or related field is required. One (1) year of management experience required. Excellent organizational, communication, and public relations skills required, along with the ability to work with deadlines. The preferred candidate will also exhibit excellent writing and editing skills (working knowledge of Associated Press style required), demonstrated understanding of terminology and statistics involved with college sports, demonstrated skill in desktop publishing and design (on a PC platform preferred), demonstrated understanding of social media and a demonstrated understanding of website management.
Intercollegiate sports media relations experience preferred.
