Illinois State University, a NCAA Division I institution, member of the Missouri Valley Conference invites applications for the position of Graduate Assistant for Strength & Conditioning within the department of Athletics. This pre-professional, 12-month position includes a tuition waiver and a stipend of $1,224 per month. The successful applicant must meet the admission requirements for Illinois State's Graduate School. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assist the Strength and Conditioning staff in developing and administering all phases of speed, strength and conditioning programs to 19 varsity sports; develop training programs for select varsity sports as assigned by the Head Strength Coach; this entails direct interaction and collaboration with the assigned team's head coach to ensure the team and coach's needs/goals are met by the training program being developed; perform guided research and study in all aspects of the profession.
As a part of your responsibilities, you will follow the regulations and guidelines of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Missouri Valley Conference or the Missouri Valley Football conference, the Athletics Department and Illinois State University.
Required qualifications include: Bachelor’s Degree; eligibility for appointment per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook; graduate student at Illinois State University majoring in Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, or Psychology of Sport & Physical Activity at Illinois State University.
