Primary Purpose: To organize, direct, and sustain the School's interscholastic football program. This position will be working with and leading a team of coaches. The Head Coach serves as a motivational figure who inspires high morale, builds team cohesiveness, develops character, communicates effectively and provides positive reinforcement.
Essential Functions: • Develop and execute a strategy for building a statewide competitive team that is recognized both regionally and nationally • This position may include teaching responsibilities • Oversee and manage all aspects of football camps • Manage the recruitment process for athletes who wish to pursue football beyond high school • Oversee the plan for football season, including competitive schedule and practices • Work closely with the Athletic Director in the area of facilities, officials, practice schedule, supervise travel arrangement for away competition and strategize for subsequent contests • In conjunction with strength staff, develop training and conditioning program for the football program • Work with the Athletic Director to hire, train, supervise, and evaluate coaches, team manager, and other staff as assigned • Participate in in-service programs for coaches; keep current with literature on coaching practices, rules of sport; physiological and psychological sport applications; contribute and participate in professional organizations; serve on committees and attend clinics, conventions, and other meetings • Participate in institutional professional development and training • Ensures all coaches are performing their duties at the highest level of professionalism • Coordinates the athletic coaching budget with Athletic Director • Oversee performance management of coaching staff • Explains and enforces safety rules and regulations • Confers with the Athletic Department to purchase and distribute equipment and uniforms • Works to ensure collaboration and connection between middle and upper school football programs • Performs other duties as requested
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university required, and a minimum of five (5) years teaching and/or coaching experience
Demonstrated leadership skills
Excellent knowledge of physical conditioning methods
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, and fellow coaches
Demonstrated passion for football, along with hands-on ability and willingness to help Bolles athletes reach their maximum potential
Solid interpersonal and communication skills
Experience working with adolescents
Excellent character, integrity and adaptability
The desire and ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere
Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control
Positive communication and coaching style that develops athletes
Professional behaviors consistent with FHSAA Regulation
Working knowledge of FHSAA rules and regulations preferred
A valid First Aid Certificate from the American Red Cross, including CPR training (training will be provided, if necessary)
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screen
