The Big Ten Conference is seeking candidates for an immediate start in the position of Assistant Director of Officiating Services. This position’s primary function is to support the Conference’s football, basketball, and hockey officiating programs (and league’s officiating consortiums). This includes, capturing, editing, and managing coaching & game video for officiating clinics, coaches' questions, and evaluation. Assisting the Assistant Commissioner of Officiating Services with the oversite and management of the technology related to officiating and the Officiating Services department. In addition, conducting research projects for the Coordinator of Football Officials and the Associate Commissioner of Men’s Basketball. This position is located at the Big Ten Conference headquarters and is not affiliated with Big Ten Network operations nor does it involve producing of television shows or content.
Responsibilities include: •Preparing coaches video and television broadcast clips for evaluation purposes and coaches' questions •Organizing weekly downgrade, observer, instant replay and foul Reports •Compiling material and producing weekly training tapes for officials •Compiling material and assisting with organizing off-season officiating clinics •Assisting with the management and operations of the Big Ten Officiating Command Center •Assisting with the oversight of technology related to officiating. (instant replay, scheduling, evaluations, communication systems, etc.) •Serving as Football Officials Liaison for Big Ten Football Championship Game •Assisting with the Big Ten Basketball Tournament & NCAA Men’s Tournament
Bachelor’s degree required. Experience with both post-production software and athletically-related video editing software required. Experience with XOS Thunder or DVSport digital video editing platforms. Must have strong understanding of other software including Microsoft Office. Position requires excellent written communications skills and ability to multi-task and work under deadlines. Must be able to work variable schedules during football, basketball, and hockey season (weekend hours required).
