Boise State University invites interested applicants for the position of Head Cheer and Dance Coach. The successful applicant will become part of our team as we build a Metropolitan Research University of Distinction. This position must be able to run and maintain Cheer and Dance Team program through: recruiting, teaching cheer and dance techniques/routines, choreographing, scheduling, monitoring academic progress, budget management, fundraising, equipment selection, as well as promoting the program throughout the University and community. This position will require a strong, working knowledge and understanding of AACCA, NCAA, Conference and Institutional rules and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead all aspects of the Boise State Spirit Squad consisting of the cheer, dance, and mascot program
Ensure emphasis on safety and compliance with AACAA, NCAA, and conference rules and regulations
Manage and schedule appearance requests for the cheer, dance, and mascot programs in the department, University, community and private events to promote the program
Coordinate practices, conditioning, participation and performances at all home football games, basketball games, volleyball matches, athletic events, community events and other events as requested
Choreograph, teach and practice various routines on a daily basis to prepare for games and performances
Instruct team members in the proper techniques for fundamentals of cheer and dance
Ensure participants are dedicated to their academics and meet University standards for academic success
Recruit cheer and dance team members that meet university academic standards, perform at a high level and can contribute to improving the programs
Collaborate regularly with the Marching Band
This position must be able to work weekends, evenings and possible holidays with travel to away athletic events when needed
The ideal candidate will possess:
Three (3) years of experience in similar type of work
Experience as a cheerleader or dancer at the collegiate level
American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administration (AACCA) certification or completed within one month of hire
First Aid and CPR certification or completed within one month of hire
Working knowledge and understanding of NCAA and conference rules and regulations
Experience developing program support and fundraising in the community
Minimum Qualifications (Including Certificates and Licenses):
A Bachelor’s Degree
Working knowledge of technical training skills for cheer and/or dance teams with the ability to teach these skills
Demonstrated ability in the following areas:
Evaluating and comparing athletic talent for potential growth and development of team members
Planning, organizing and executing schedule and travel arrangements
Communication skills with team members, prospective members, outside cheer and dance coaches, parents and boosters in the community
Maintain uniforms and health standards in an organized fashion for both practices and games/events
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
