Macalester College seeks to hire a full-time Assistant Football Coach to work in its Athletics Department. The Assistant Football coach will assist the head coach in all aspects of a NCAA Division III program. This position requires some travel, as well as evening and weekend hours.
Organizes, prepares, and conducts safe and strategic team training sessions. Executes appropriate coaching decisions during practice and games that ensure the welfare of the student athletes representing the program.
Assists the head coach in developing and incorporating a comprehensive recruiting plan that shows successful results for the recruitment, yield and retention of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes in a rigorous academic environment. Serves as an effective recruiter for the program working within the parameters of Macalester and NCAA rules. Recruitment strategy results in healthy roster numbers and a competitive program against scheduled opponents.
Assists the head coach in all aspects of managing a home games (securing and communicating with officials).
Fosters and facilitates an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.
Works with a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity in higher education.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required. Master’s degree preferred.
Valid Minnesota State Driver's License required.
Successful coaching experience at the collegiate level required.
Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and a commitment to the academic development of student-athletes required.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff, faculty, students, parents and alumni from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds required.
