The Associate Athletics Director for Communications is responsible for directing communications and media relations efforts for the institution’s NCAA Division I-FBS intercollegiate athletics program that sponsors 16 men’s and women’s sports. Individual serves as the primary spokesperson for the Department of Athletics and is responsible for the highly visible, revenue-generating sport of football. Position also oversees and supervises staff who handle communications responsibilities for all other NCAA intercollegiate sport programs at Colorado State.

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in communications, journalism, public relations or related field
Five years of experience in athletics media relations required, preferably at the NCAA Div. I or professional sports level
Proficiency in appropriate computer programs (e.g., InDesign, StatCrew, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, social media platforms, etc.) required
Experience and proficiency in Web layout, design and maintenance required
Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and customer service skills required
Ability to run an event from all aspects of media relations/communications needs and requirements
Willingness and availability to work nights and weekends and travel
Ability to multi-task, prioritize duties and meet deadlines
Ability to effectively interact with local, regional and national media on a variety of issues related to highly visible intercollegiate athletics teams
Ability to work well in a team environment with other staff members, coaches and student-athletes
Knowledge of appropriate NCAA and MW conference rules
Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date
Preferred Job Qualifications
Media relations experience with football highly preferred
Supervisory experience highly preferred
