Head Coach of Football is responsible for the continued development and success of the Ohio Northern University Football program.
Principle Responsibilities: Oversee the recruiting process through hosting summer team camps and skills camps, coordinating campus visits, and maintaining a database of prospective student-athletes. Develop student-athletes academically through mentoring, advising, monitoring and motivation. Plan and facilitate workouts for speed, agility, strength and conditioning. Develop student-athletes’ skills through practices and professional development. Create and maintain an annual calendar for players and coaches including strength and conditioning, games, practices, recruiting, camps, professional development and more. Formulate in-season game plan preparation, in-season opponent review, in-season self study, off-season self analysis, and off-season professional development. Conduct speaking engagements, assist with fundraising, and build relationships to help advance the football program. Supervise, develop, and evaluate staff including assistant coaches, recruiters and administrative supporters. Develop and monitor the annual football budget. Set policies, procedures and precedents and devise new, non-standard approaches to address highly intricate and technically complex challenges. Develop and maintain ongoing relationships involving difficult and formal negotiations. Coach may assist with department-wide off-season conditioning, as per NCAA 17.1.5 and 17.02.1.1.1.4. Coach may also supervise weight room for department-wide use as per NCAA 17.02.1.1.1.3 and 17.02.1.1.1.4.
Head coach is responsible for compliance with NCAA, OAC and ONU regulations. Head coach is also responsible for staff and student-athlete compliance.
Required Skills: Must have a working knowledge of football, including skills instruction, visionary planning, player projections, game strategy, and ability to communicate with intercollegiate football student-athletes.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree desired. Strong background in football coaching experience.
