The Assistant Director of Marketing Strategy and Fan Experience works as a member of the Intercollegiate Athletics marketing staff, and is under the direct supervision of the Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience. The Assistant Director of Marketing Strategy and Fan Experience oversees marketing plan development and implementation, ticket sales, sponsor activation and game presentation for select Olympic Sport programs with a key focus on maximizing ticket revenue, increasing fan attendance and enhancing the Maryland Athletics brand. It will also oversee select student workers responsible for marketing oversight.
Additional responsibilities include: leading student engagement efforts for the football program, including execution of “Five Days of Gameweek” initiative, management and oversight of the football student section, and other initiatives leading up to and throughout the football season; assisting with game day operations, fan development and revenue generation initiatives for Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball and various Olympic Sports; management of Testudo’s Kids Club membership/subscription program, identifying preferences and buying habits to identify potential markets and factors affecting product demand; searching national best practices to enhance the game day experience at all athletic events; involvement in creative fan engagement and branding initiatives; serving as Athletics’ Terps After Dark committee liaison; assisting with various other related duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, experience, and training required in sports management, marketing, advertising or other related field and a minimum of one (1) year of sports marketing experience is required. Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Photoshop. Must be able to work flexible hours, including frequent evenings and weekends.
Preferences: One (1) year of sports marketing experience at the NCAA Division I or professional level is preferred.
